How do you clean wax out of a candle holder?

Published by Debbie at 2:12 am under Votive Holder

I love burning candles and I often get little votive candles and put them in glass holders. But how do you clean the wax out when you are done? It would take a ridiculously long time to scrape it all out!

Put them in the freezer then use a butter knife and the wax should break right out.

Put a paper towel in it and heat it up, either with a hair dryer or on the range of your stove. The paper towel will absorb the melted wax and leave the glass clean.

Did you ever try simply putting a flame under the glass and making the wax softer so that you can esaily scrape it out with a pipe cleaner brush or rub it off when it’s soft?

If you have a dishwasher stick them in there. If not run a sink of extremely hot water and let them soak, then when it’s hot, but you can still touch it clean it with a scouring pad or something like that. It makes it so easy.

Put it in the freezer for about an hour you should then be able to pop it right out in one or two pieces with a butter knife, it comes out about as clean as you can get it.

    Step 1:
Heat your oven on its lowest setting.

    Step 2:
Place the votive holders upside down on the pie pan.

    Step 3:
Put the pie pan and candle holder into the over together. The heat will melt the wax and it will run into the pie tin.

    Step 4:
When it’s melted, take it out and use a paper towel to wipe any remaining wax off easily. It’s very hot, so make sure that you are using a pot holder or another type of barrier that will keep you from burning your hands.

    Step 5:
If the wax is on a glass tabletop, you can create a similar effect by pouring boiling water on the affected area.

    Soak it in hot water.

That’s what I do. 5 minutes in hot water and the wax will just fall right off.

Put it under some really hot water, and it will come clean as it was when you purchased it.

Put it in the freezer for an hour or two. It almost always just pops out or needs a tiny pry with a sharp knife.

The BEST thing to do is put a thin layer of water in the bottom of the candle holder before burning any candles. When you clean it out the wax will just fall right out. TRY IT! I was amazed!
